Drum Lessons & DVDs

Carl at a session with kit & electronic gear

I’ve been getting more calls for drum lessons and clinics. Even though I travel a lot teaching at seminars I still like the individual, hands on drum lesson. Although my schedule doesn’t allow me to do that on a regular basis I still squeeze in a SKYPE lesson or even a “live” lesson in my home studio.

Feel free to contact me if you’d like to schedule a lesson on line or in person here in Nashville, OR even on the road at an event in your town. Sometimes I can squeeze in a private lesson at a conference if there’s time & space. Contact Me.

If you want to see what happens at a seminar event on the road check out my DVD teaching series. These DVDs allow me to expand the material I teach at clinics without time constraints. They really focus on learning the craft of drumming… Not as much concert footage, but more explaining of what you need to learn. You can study at your own pace and on your own schedule. Each one offers something unique. See details at the web site store. To The Store!

  1. Yo dude!

What are your “go-to” set of drums? I couldn’t figure out what kind those were in the pic (the red ones).

    I’m just curious 🙂

What do you think of Pacific drums? I’d love a set of DW’s but… yanno.. $$$!

    • Hey Sean, I do favor the Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute that I’m using now. On sessions or tours they perform perfectly for whatever style or room I’m working in… I’ve played almost every kind of kit thru the years; and I do love variety. The ultimate skill is to decide what drumheads & tuning approach you need to use for whatever kit you play. Heads & tuning affects everything. / The Pacific Drums I’ve played have been very good too… I know DW is the parent company… They use Pacific as a secondary line, but it’s really good stuff. You should be very happy with them, AND save some bucks. I would probably get all new heads for the kit, even if the come with factory heads. (Factory heads can be a little less quality; not a good thing.) Blessings on your drumming adventures, Carl

  2. Nice post. I was checking constantly this blog and
I am impressed! Extremely helpful info specifically the last part 🙂 I care for such info a lot.
I was seeking this certain information for a very long time.

    Thank you and good luck.

So . . . what are those red ones in the picture?

    • Paul… I am so sorry this never got answered. My apologies. The kit is a Peavey 1000 series solid maple kit. 22″ kick, 10, 12, 14, 16″ toms – 14 X 6″ solid maple snare & a 12 X 4 solid maple piccolo. Amazing kit and I still use it on occasion. Peace, Carl
